EV Chargers and Installation Costs
How it works
The Government of Canada recognizes that when it comes to widespread electric vehicle adoption, infrastructure must lead consumer behaviour. To that end, the federal government has committed $130-million over five years (2019-2024) to deploy a network of zero-emission vehicle charging (level 2 and higher) and refuelling stations across Canada through a program known as known as the Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP).
What Will the Government Fund?
The upcoming round of ZEVIP funding is for the installation of EV charging infrastructure in public places, on-street, in multi-unit residential buildings, at workplaces, or for light-duty vehicle fleets. Applications for this funding opens December 2021 with applications due by March 2022.
How Much Can I Get?
Under the program, Natural Resources Canada will pay up to fifty percent (50%) of total project costs, to a maximum of $5,000 per Level 2 connector. This $5,000 per connector can be used for any aspect of the project, from purchasing the charger to paying for labour or other associated installation costs. The maximum amount available for any project is $100,000.
How Do I Get Funding?
This round of funding will be delivered through third-party organizations. This is where Catalyst comes in. We work with a recognized third-party delivery organization, and have extensive experience helping businesses apply for and receive ZEVIP funding. Contact us to start the process today.
